To ensure the accuracy and validity of International Patent Classification (IPC) symbols for Chinese patent documents, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) will adopt the IPC (2026.01 Version) effective January 1, 2026, for the classification, publication, and announcement of Chinese patent documents.

Compared with the IPC (2025.01 Version), the new version includes revisions to 1,615 classification symbols, comprising 517 newly added symbols and 206 deleted symbols.

To facilitate the study and use of the new IPC version, the CNIPA has translated and produced relevant materials for IPC (2026.01 Version), including the IPC Classification Tables, Class Definitions, and Cross-Reference Tables between the new and old versions. These materials are available on the official website of the CNIPA.
